“The Starter Kit” has everything you need but the bees! Since every Hoover Hive is steeped in 100% beeswax, you can skip the hassle of painting them. The 3 frame option for this beehive is considered ‘Nuc-Ready’. You’ll simply insert the 5 frames of bees that you’ll receive when you purchase your first Nuc. With the 8 frame option, your hive will be ready for a package of bees or a swarm.

The major benefit of an 8 frame hive is that it weighs 20% less than a 10 frame hive. Honey is heavy. A 10 frame brood box that is full of honey can weigh up to 90 lbs while medium boxes can weigh up to 60lbs. A 20% difference can save your back.

Every joint on Hoover Hives' boxes utilizes the dovetailing technique that leaves no room for error and is the defining factor that keeps Hoover Hives perfectly square.
Once they’ve cut the wood, they dip each part into a pool of natural beeswax. They allow the beeswax to be soaked into the hive parts. This not only protects the wood but is also what gives their hives their natural golden honey lustrous allure.
Hoover Hives 8 frame hive parts use dimensions that are consistent with the industry standard and are interchangeable with all other Langstroth 8 frame beehives.
